Haru Yamada is a sociolinguist and author who writes about listening, language, and how people connect across cultures. Born in Japan and shaped by life between countries, her work spans both academic and trade publishing. Her book Kiku: The Japanese Art of Good Listening was published in 2025 by Hachette in the UK and the US, with a paperback edition due in February 2026 by Headline. She lives in London and continues to write about listening as a cultural and relational practice. She hopes her work encourages readers to return to listening not as performance, but as a powerful way of being with others.
