Harry Navinski has always been captivated by stories, though it took him a while to realise he could create them himself. Instead, his early life took flight in a very different direction: aeroplane engineering. Harry spent much of his career with the Royal Air Force, rising from hands-on aircraft maintenance and launches to senior management roles that carried him across the UK, Europe, and beyond. Along the way, he created and edited RAF Active, the RAF’s magazine for sports and adventurous activities, inspired by his love of skiing, sailing, judo, and scuba diving. After leaving the service, Harry channelled his energy into humanitarian work, spending six years in West Bengal helping to combat human trafficking. Immersed in India’s colour and chaos, he discovered a new passion and talent — writing fiction. Back in the UK in 2019, a creative writing course sparked the idea for his debut novel, The Glass, featuring Suzanna McLeod, the great-great-niece of Sherlock Holmes. His follow-up works — The Test, The Duty (2021), The Key to Murder (2022), The Last Walk (2024), and Retribution Song (2025) — have cemented his reputation for gripping mysteries infused with empathy and insight. (All profits from The Duty are pledged to the anti-trafficking organisations that inspired it.) Drawing on a lifetime of travel, service, and adventure, Harry continues to craft stories filled with sharp-minded detectives, twisting plots, and heartfelt humanity.
