Guy K. Mitchell, Jr. was born in a small town in Alabama in 1948. He was educated in the public school systems in Birmingham, AL, and attended the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked in various positions in his career, including as a shift foreman in a coal-fired power plant, a plant superintendent in a steel mill, a general manager of a construction materials company in Saudi Arabia and Senior-Vice President of a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Mitchell founded Mitchell Industries Inc. in 1996 and is the Chairman of DeSHAZO, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitchell Industries. DeSHAZO is a leading manufacturer of heavy-duty industrial overhead cranes and automated equipment employing robotics; in addition, the Company provides aftermarket parts and services for overhead cranes and robotic systems throughout the U.S. and Mexico. Mr. Mitchell was elected a member of Pi Tau Sigma International Mechanical Engineering Honor Society in December 1969 and graduated with a B.S.M.E. from the University of Alabama in May 1972. In May 1989, he completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. In April 1995, he received the “Department of Mechanical Engineering Distinguished Fellow Award” from the Faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and was elected a “Distinguished Engineering Fellow” by the College of Engineering, University of Alabama, the same year. Mr. Mitchell became interested in the man-made global warming hypothesis in 2017. He has spent the last four years conducting extensive investigations into scientific research dealing with the subject, as well as the reports of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In addition, he has spent several years studying spectroscopy, quantum mechanics, and atmospheric physics to understand how the first principles of science in each of these fields impact the analysis of the global warming hypothesis.
