Gordon Smith is an Australian writer whose novels and historical works are inspired by a rich and varied professional life. Before becoming an author, Gordon worked extensively in traffic management and project management, contributing to major infrastructure projects such as the Gold Coast Light Rail, the Northern Pipeline Interconnector and the Southern Regional Water Pipeline. His career placed him at the centre of complex planning, community engagement and high pressure decision making — experiences that now inform the realism and depth of his storytelling.
Since retiring, Gordon has written eight books, ranging from historical narratives to character driven adventures, including The Family That Went to War, Lady Ruth Bromfield, The Sensual Retiree, and Karanja Run.
