Glyn Harper is Professor of War Studies at Massey University in New Zealand. He was born in Christchurch (1958). After training as a teacher, he moved to Australia where he taught until 1988. He joined the Australian Army where he completed his Phd during his secondment to the University of New England. He transferred to the New Zealand Army in 1995 where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was seconded to Massey University as a visiting fellow. When Glyn retired from the Army in 2001 he continued at Massey on a full time basis. Along with his teaching commitments, Glyn continues to research and write books for adults and children. Many of his books have achieved best-seller status. He is currently writing a volume of the Centenary History of New Zealand and the First World War. Professor of War Studies.
