Gita Ralleigh grew up reading fantasy adventures that took her to faraway lands. The closest she came was on family holidays to India, where old palaces, ice-capped mountains, monkeys and elephants were part of everyday life. During a career as a medical doctor, she obtained masters degrees in Creative Writing and Medical Humanities and published award-winning short stories as well as two poetry books: A Terrible Thing and Siren with a third, Empirical, forthcoming in 2026. The Destiny of Minou Moonshine and The Voyage of Sam Singh (both published by Zephyr/Bloomsbury UK) are stand-alone, interconnected fantasy novels for young readers, set in Indica, an alternative history version of colonial India. Gita lives in the London suburbs, very close to where she grew up with her family and teaches creative writing to undergraduates at Imperial College. You can find her on Instagram as @gita_ralleigh
