Gael Hannan is a renowned advocate, author, and speaker on hearing loss issues. She has a passionate international following for her work that includes awareness programs, dramatic-comedic performances and writing that help people better understand the hearing loss life. She regularly writes for hearing-related publications, including weekly articles for Hearing Health & Technology Matters. Gael’s critically-acclaimed first book, The Way I Hear It: A Life with Hearing Loss, is a memoir/survival guide that has helped readers around the world to embrace their own hearing challenges. Her second book, Hear & Beyond: Live Skillfully With Hearing Loss, is co-authored by Shari Eberts and features their renowned expertise, compassion and humor in a ground-breaking guide that shares life-changing strategies for better communication. Gael has profound hearing loss and is bimodal, using both a hearing aid and a cochlear implant. She lives with her husband, Doug, aka the Hearing Husband, on Vancouver Island, where they live in hope of visits from their children and grandchildren.
