Farhad Babaei is an Iranian novelist born in Tehran in 1977. He graduated in 2005 from the Karnameh Literary School’s Creative Writing Workshop and has since published two short story collections and over five novels. From 2005 to 2011, he served as a literary consultant and editor for various publications. His notable works include the novels "Jamming" (2012) and "Mr. Grayeli’s Family" (2016). His novel "Jamming" was adapted into a stage play in 2016, titled "The Blink." In 2023, due to increasing government censorship and threats, he left Iran to continue his work and writing in a free environment. He became the first International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN) guest writer in Bratislava, Slovakia, for a one-year residency. In 2024, with support from ICORN and DAAD as part of a cultural residency program, he relocated to Berlin, Germany, where he currently lives and writes.
