I grew up in Farmington, Maine. I was very good at writing or reading at the time, having been placed in the special education system for those who need extra help. So it was a surprise to all when they heard that I started writing. It comes down to my older brother. When he went to college, he decided it would be fun to write a book. He told me about that idea, and we decided it would be a great way to keep in touch if we both worked on it together. It started off slow as I was very inexperienced and reluctant about where I started. We slowly wrote about 12 chapters, and then things got busy for my brother, and he slowed down in his writing. I continued to work on it, and eventually, it became my first published book. When I first finished the book, it wasn’t very good, and I had other ideas I wanted to explore. I began writing several other books for fun and soon had a list of books I had started. I ended up writing seven books before I turned back to the first and went through the editing process with my family. As an engineer and father, my writing has slowed again, but I am slowly making progress when possible. I love to write because I have difficulty picking out books. I do not like many of the books I pick up, wishing that the author would be a bit cleaner in their writing. So, I end up putting my effort into writing things that I like. If I am the only one who likes them, then I consider myself a success. Every time I reread one of my books, I am surprised at how creative I have been. Plus, it is nice to be able to point at the books as an achievement for anyone of my past who thought I wasn’t going to make anything of myself since I wasn’t the smartest one in the room.
