Esther A. Armah is an international award-winning journalist, a playwright, a radio host and CEO, The Armah Institute of Emotional Justice (The AIEJ). With its global team in Chicago, the UK, and Ghana, The AIEJ devises, designs and delivers projects, training, thought leadership. Esther was the Spring 2022 Distinguished Activist in Residence at NYU's Center for Black Visual Culture. Her five plays have been produced and performed in New York, Chicago, Accra. She has lived and worked as a journalist in London, New York, Washington DC, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya - and self-describes as a 'global Black chick'. Emotional Justice is her framework creation. It is purpose, passion and profession. Her Emotional Justice essays have been featured in the New York Times best-selling: 'Four Hundred Souls' edited by Dr, Ibram X Kendi & Dr. Keisha Blain. For her Emotional Justice work she was awarded ‘Community Healer Award’ at the 2016 Valuing Black Lives Global Emotional Emancipation Summit in Washington DC. Esther was named ‘Most Valuable NY Radio Host’ in The Nation’s 2012 Progressive Honors List for her work as Morning Show host on Wake-Up Call on Pacifica’s, WBAI. She was the creator of 'The Spin' podcast which brought Black women from the worlds of art, activism and academia together, and aired on radio in Arizona, North Carolina, New Jersey, South Carolina, Iowa, Atlanta, and Mississippi; and internationally in London, Nigeria and Ghana. The Emotional Justice framework has been engaged by Ivy League university Dartmouth, in the world of philanthropy by Ms. Foundation for Women. As an international public speaker, Esther and her Emotional Justice framework have been featured at Stanford, NYU, Kenya's African Women in Media Festival, the UK and Nigeria.
