Dr. Erik P. Bean is a Professor of Practice in the Ph.D. in Global Leadership program at Indiana Institute of Technology (Indiana Tech), where he teaches doctoral and DBA courses in leadership theory, global change, communication in diverse contexts, research critique, business research methods, and global practicum. His work focuses on leadership ethics, media literacy, information bias, and research rigor in AI-influenced environments. He is the author of Bias Is All Around You: A Handbook for Inspecting Social Media & News Stories, an award-winning book recognized by the Henry Ford Innovation Nation (First Place Teacher, 2022), American Writing Awards (Gold Medal, Academic/Education), Nautilus Book Awards (Silver), and Readers’ Favorite (Silver). The book has been highly recommended by Kirkus Reviews, Midwest Book Review, and BookTrib, and has developed a substantial professional following, including more than 3,500 LinkedIn followers and over 1,200 followers on its dedicated book page. Dr. Bean has more than 25 years of experience spanning higher education, secondary education, journalism, and professional writing. He holds a doctorate in education and a master’s degree in journalism. His peer-reviewed scholarship and international conference presentations examine leadership ethics, AI and bias, media literacy, and doctoral research integrity. In addition to his work on media literacy and bias, Dr. Bean has contributed to published leadership texts on prudent leadership. His current research agenda includes forthcoming peer-reviewed manuscripts on leaderacy, the KLEMP bias assessment technique and Seven Sources of Impartiality framework, which complement CRAAP and SIFT in the media literacy space, and ethical practice in doctoral chairing and mentorship.
