Emmett Glasbrenner’s life has been significantly shaped by his experiences of displacement, war, and the search for healing. Born in Liberia, he went through the denials of a brutal civil war before fleeing to the Ivory Coast, where he experienced harsh living conditions. After the death of his mother, Emmett and his brother were placed in an orphanage and later adopted by the Glasbrenner family from Wisconsin. At the age of 12, Emmett had to contend with the nuances of a foreign culture and family and endure the burden of his traumatic background. As a U.S. Army Infantry Officer, Emmett committed eight years of service, including deployments to Afghanistan and Djibouti. Though he remained committed to the values of duty and discipline, internal struggles rooted in his emotional wounds continued to haunt him. Post-military, he started facing his mental health issues with the help of therapy and introspection, having undertaken a complex but vital path toward healing. This odyssey inspired Emmett to create "The Mental Detox," a program born out of his emotional integration and healing journey. Now, as a husband, father, and community leader, he is dedicated to helping others on their journeys toward peace, clarity, and healing, reflecting the strength and wisdom he gained along the way.
