Emilie Thiessen graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor’s degree in French language and literature and print journalism. She then became a full-time writer, editor, photographer, and layout artist for local newspapers across central Minnesota. Since then, Emilie has sharpened her editorial expertise through advanced training and industry-recognized credentials, including the ACES Certificate in Editing and Knowadays’ Becoming a Proofreader. In spring 2023, Emilie self-published her first picture book—an experience that sparked her return to academia. She soon began a master’s degree in creative writing and publishing at Western Colorado University, serving on the editorial board for the anthology Feisty Felines and Other Fantastical Familiars and editing and designing the republication of H.G. Wells’ The Food of the Gods and How It Came to Earth. Emilie graduated in the summer of 2024. Emilie has three amazing children who keep her happy and busy. Manu is a talented writer specializing in epic fantasy and a creative D&D Dungeon Master, expertly weaving his stories into gameplay. Minerva is a rising basketball star and a talented theater actor who lights up the stage. Antoinette is a skilled artist who brings dragons to life through puppetry and also shines brightly in the theater. Additionally, Emilie shares her home with her lovely husband, Terence, and two dogs and three cats. This whole crew lives together in a small, old house in Red Wing, Minnesota.
