Elinor Florence's first novel titled Bird's Eye View, about a Saskatchewan farm girl who joins the air force in World War Two and becomes an interpreter of aerial photographs, became a Canadian bestseller in 2016, listed in the Toronto Star. Her second novel titled Wildwood, also published by Dundurn Press, is proving to be equally popular. The heroine is a single mother from the big city who must fulfill the conditions of her inheritance by occupying an abandoned, off-the-grid farmhouse for one year, located in the Peace River area of northern Alberta. She is inspired by the journal of her great-aunt, the farm's original homesteader. Elinor grew up on a Saskatchewan grain farm. She pursued a journalism career, working at newspapers in all four Western provinces, and was a regular contributor to Reader's Digest. She continues to write a monthly blog called Wartime Wednesdays in which she tells stories of Canadians at war. She self-published a collection of these stories into a book titled: My Favourite Veterans: True Stories From World War Two's Hometown Heroes. Married with three grown daughters, Elinor loves village life, historical research, old people and old houses. Visit Elinor's website here: http://www.elinorflorence.com.
