Edward Parr is the author of the commercially successful and critically acclaimed "Kingdoms Fall" trilogy of espionage adventures set during the First World War. A former playwright and retired attorney, Parr has returned to writing to revive old forms of narrative and explore the interaction of people and cultures during historical periods of transformation. The Kingdoms Fall series was inspired primarily by the "Richard Sharpe" series by Bernard Cornwell, the "Aubrey-Maturin" series by Patrick O'Brian, and the novels of Ian Fleming and John le Carré. "Kingdoms Fall" was awarded the Best First novel and Gold Prize for Historical Fiction in 2016 by Literary Classics: "If classroom history could be this good History would be the most popular subject." His new novel, "Tamanrasset" explore the pulp fiction genre in a historical saga set on the edge of the Sahara as great empires collide and an ancient world fades.
