Eden Gruger is an eccentric author whose CV that mentions both PCB Design software sales, and hula hooping. Writing hilarious, candid, occasionally tragic stories, each collection is based around a theme that touches women's hearts and funny bones. When not working Eden spends her time in her garden, on her allotment or trying to persuade her dog to behave just a bit better. Becoming an author was a dream of mine from childhood. Sadly, everyone who heard me talk about my big ideas told me that writing wasn’t a real job, and that I needed to get my head out of the clouds. "On leaving school I was encouraged into the world of business, and spent the next 20 years or so, working in sales and marketing, including in publishing. Then, in 2011, after a long struggle with my health, it became impossible for me to go to work. Although the adjustment was a major struggle, when I felt abit stronger there was finally the time - and freedom! – to write. The positive feedback on my blog was so encouraging that it wasn't long before people were asking for a book. And what could I do but oblige. My first collection Down With Frogs about all the frogs you have to kiss before you find your prince or give up looking was born. And followed by Laughing At Myself and Funny Bird, both of which share the times that life tries to trip you up, and how you survive the embarrassment. I write with the dark humour of women speaking to their closest friends. Because of my own processing differences, it was really important for me that my books are accessible to as many people as possible – without creating separate editions that mark out difference. So, I’ve made sure that my publications follow the British Dyslexia Association guidelines, which means they are formatted with a larger, regular shaped font, wider spacing between lines, and bold titles".
