Along the way he has been shaped by faith, literature, film, conversation, and pilgrimage—from the writings of the saints to the strange wisdom found in ordinary experience. His writing grows out of thousands of conversations, failures and recoveries, and a lifelong habit of paying attention to the small moments that reveal deeper truths. He writes not as a guide with answers, but as a companion in the search.
