Dr. Priyadarshini Roy, a distinguished medical professional, began her career as a clinician in esteemed hospitals in Eastern India. She made a conscious career move to the clinical research field in 2003 at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. She was among the first few Indian doctors to transition from academia to the global pharmaceutical industry. Blessed with exceptional mentors and a dynamic intellectual environment, Dr. Roy achieved several firsts in global drug development, scientific and medical writing, and medical operations. She has been a role model, wearing various leadership hats. She now works as a consultant in healthcare, academia, and the pharmaceutical industry.
In addition to her professional achievements spanning more than two decades, Dr. Roy is an accomplished poet, author, and critic. Though she has been writing since childhood, her poetry was widely published in various international literary journals from 1992 onward, while she was an MBBS student. These include Poet, World Poetry, Metverse Muse, Quest, Poet International, to name a few. Her Hindi poetry has been well-appreciated by her peers and friends.
Her debut poetry collection, SAND DUNES 2000, was widely reviewed by Indian and foreign critics. In March 2005, she had the honor of presenting her work at the World Poetry Festival in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where she engaged in a dialogue on ‘Nature and Harmony.’ Her poetry has also been translated into Greek and Taiwanese, thus expanding her literary footprint. As a critic, her review of Dr. Daisaku Ikeda’s (a poet, author, philosopher, educator, and crusader for peace through dialogue) poetry is worth a mention.
Born to intellectual Bengali parents in Cuttack, the Silver City, she has been consistently encouraged towards her academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. Travel and photography add depth to her writing muse.
As an author, poet, and critic, Dr. Roy passionately explores societal issues, human emotions, and Mother Nature with ease and poise. Her profound, soul-stirring messages, delivered with an eloquent, lucid style, aim to influence readers and invite change for the better. She has now delved into fiction and non-fiction to further influence and impact.
Her self-published book of short stories (June 2024), “Petals That Breathe: Secret Journeys of Inadequacies and Outcomes that could have been otherwise”, is available as an e-book, paperback, and audiobook. The stories mirror the complexities of real life, offering lessons that are educational, inspiring, and touching.
Her self-published non-fiction book (May 2025) is “Finding My Soulmate – A Mindful Search: A Practical Guide with Lessons, Laughs, Questions and Lightbulb moments”. This one takes you on a woman’s journey, as she mindfully explores the complexities and eccentricities of human nature to discover her soulmate. An arduous journey that brings many learnings through experience and exposure, and reflects on the points to be mindful of, so that the heart is securely fastened through this journey and ends up with a relationship that stays, breeds love, mutual respect, trust, and reliability.
An array of real-life examples with a dash of humor and mild sarcasm that promises to show the path to multitudes who are either scared to start, afraid to trust, or have love lost. Finding the soul connect by understanding oneself and seeking the right partner with the must-have traits is the essence of this book.
Her latest Novella, “The Soul That Walked Before: Glimpses from the Past, Whispering into the Present,” is a work of spiritual fiction inspired by past-life regression and inner healing. It has been well narrated through an immersive storytelling about memories etched on the timeless journey of the soul. It delves into memories beyond a single lifetime, emotions that refuse to fade, and explores healing beyond time.
Through a fictional protagonist, the story journeys into the realm of past life regression, where forgotten lifetimes surface as emotions, visions, and unresolved bonds. As inner landscapes unfold, the protagonist discovers that present-day fears, grief, and longings may have roots far older than conscious memory. Inspired by lived experiences, this book does not ask for belief. Instead, it is about being open to feeling the emotions that gently weave themes of unresolved feelings, about remembering, about love, loss, duty, belonging, forgiveness, release, and soul continuity into a narrative that is both intimate and transformative.
