I have two missions in life. First is to be a constant source of delight for My Beloved, Jennifer (1). We have been married a long time, mostly good times, We raised four amazing humans and they gave us twelve grandkids. With this as our life focus we live significant and meaningful natural lives. Jennifer and I are loving kind people and self designated “relationship billionaires” rich in love. The second mission is to share the riches of our love with others. I write and we teach people how to rediscover their innate natural loving kind self. The Home Model was written as a tool to help others tap into the abundance of love resident inside them. We had a major setback about fifteen years into our marriage. I immersed myself into the social reality of my career culture at the expense of my family. I thought I was doing the right thing as I unconsciously accepted the beliefs, values, rules, practices, goals and aspirations of the culture as the “right” way of being. This is the conflict that most people experience unconsciously, the conflict between socialization and being a natural human (2). It almost destroyed our home. Fortunately my socialization involved getting a great education and being a life long learner (I still am). I learned about culture and the humongous power of socialization. Social reality is the greatest power humans have ever created, for better and for worse (3). Jennifer and I rediscovered our natural loving selves. We now live as natural loving kind people and we learned how to control the pressures of society. The Home Model is our invention, based on our amazing story, research enhanced. And when you see it you will connect with it because it is based on real human life. We now use our social reality to help us share our message. Jennifer is the leader of JMA and Associates, a real estate company that she learned from her father (4). Business is an important tool in social reality. We use it to help others. My long ministry career was the testing ground for The Home Model. In ministry I helped families from cradle to grave, literally. Those interactions helped perfect the The Home Model over the years. The Home Model is a personal growth book cleverly disguised as our relationship story. As you read The Home Model I hope you will hear my encouraging voice and be inspired (and challenged) to grow in ways you never expected. Jennifer and I are not being trite when we say, with all our hearts, that love is the most important thing. 1) There is more information about being “a constant source of delight” in the “O” chapter in The Home Model. This is one of the greatest personal growth tools I have experienced, and continues to be so. 2) For 98% of the time homo sapiens have been around we existed as hunters and gathers, what Marshall Sahlins called “the original affluent society” because of the abundance of food and leisure time our ancient ancestors enjoyed. In the more recent 2% of our existence we have been socialized into farms and cities with complex man made cultures directing our existence. I write about this change in The Home Model. 3) Social reality is not evil. It provides tremendous benefits for people (note all the advances that help humans live better) and it can be a tool for evil (remember the holocaust of World War II). 4) JMA is the proud sponsor of The Home Model.
