Doreen Alsen started writing in 1995. She loves to write contemporary romantic comedy! Doreen is a member of the Romance Writers of America, Central New York Romance Writers, and the Southern Tier Authors of Romance. Her first book, MIKE’S BEST BET was released on March 26, 2010, and her second, WHAT IAN WANTS, was released on June 24, 2010. CHARMING DAVE, the third book in her At the End Zone series, is now available at www.amazon.com. The fourth book in the series, A TASTE OF HOPE, about two chefs looking for love in all the wrong places! Every summer, Doreen writes the scripts for the very successful CSMA teen musical theater program, Star Search, and serves as its musical director. A sample of her musical titles includes CSI:Macbeth, Titanic A La Disney, Harry Potter and the Enchanted A Q-tip, and Twilight, the Musical. Doreen teaches singing at the Community School of Music and Arts in Ithaca, NY. She’s been an active member of the CSMA faculty since 1985. She has sung featured roles for the Ithaca Opera, the Cabot Street Light Opera (Providence, RI) and the Rhode Island Gilbert and Sullivan Society. While living in Trier, Germany, Doreen taught American musical theater at the Universität Trier, as well as giving a series of lectures and recitals on the connections between American composers and poets. Her romance loving heart left the opera, as she didn’t like all the dead bodies piled up at the end of a performance. As the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for the Women's Chorale of Corning, Doreen is devoted to the cause of excellence in performance of the rich and varied catalog of treble choral literature. Doreen loves to cook and food plays a big part in all her books. She is also a long term believer in life long learning, so she’s taken up the harp and is enjoying the journey very much! She also teaches Water Aerobics at Island Health and Fitness in Ithaca, NY.
