Dominic M. Etli, DNP, MPH, APRN, FNP-C, is a clinician, epidemiologist, data scientist, professor, and clinical informatics leader whose work focuses on what happens when medicine, evidence, technology, and institutional power collide.

Over more than two decades in healthcare, his career has crossed emergency and critical care, pediatrics, family practice, urgent care, occupational medicine, epidemiology, public health, and health informatics. He currently works at the intersection of clinical operations and data science, using epidemiology, predictive analytics, and clinical informatics to study workforce health, occupational risk, and the systems that influence medical decision-making.

Dr. Dom is also a professor of nursing and epidemiology, teaching clinical epidemiology, advanced pathophysiology, research, health informatics, and evidence-based practice. His teaching emphasizes causal reasoning, uncertainty, scientific skepticism, and the ability to distinguish evidence from inference, association from causation, and consensus from proof.

His current writing includes Unhealthy by Design, an examination of how healthcare systems can financially and structurally reward treatment while neglecting prevention, and Zen and the Art of Medical Ethics, which explores autonomy, duty, informed consent, institutional loyalty, and moral courage in modern medicine. His broader work examines artificial intelligence in healthcare, misinformation and disinformation, clinical decision support, and the increasingly complicated relationship between human judgment and algorithmic authority.

Across his clinical work, research, teaching, and writing, Etli returns to the same problem: medicine is extraordinarily good at generating information and considerably less reliable at admitting what that information does not prove.

He writes for clinicians and patients who are willing to question both comfortable narratives and comfortable institutions.

Because good medicine requires more than knowing the evidence.

It requires knowing where the evidence ends.
