Dezi Shepperd is a proud neurodivergent author with a degree in psychology who writes picture books that help children feel seen, understood, and celebrated. Diagnosed with dyscalculia and ADHD as an adult, Dezi draws from her lived experience and academic background to create stories that uplift kids who learn differently — and spark empathy in those who don’t. Her debut book, Cassidy and the Mixed Up Numbers, introduces readers to a little girl who sees numbers in a way all her own — a story inspired by Dezi’s own school challenges. Her newest title, Emery Jack the Copycat, features a young autistic boy who uses echolalia to learn and connect, showing children the power of inclusion, communication, and self-expression. Dezi’s work invites young readers to embrace their minds like a beautiful puzzle — full of twists, turns, and unique strengths. She believes neurodivergence is not something to fix, but something to value. When she’s not writing, Dezi speaks to classrooms, parents, and educators about the courage it takes to thrive in a world not built for every brain.
