Devon Hase is a Buddhist teacher, author, and retreat leader who has practiced meditation intensively since 2000. After a decade of bringing mindfulness to high school and college classrooms, she spent several years in silent, solitary retreat in the mountains of Oregon, including completing a traditional three-year retreat. Devon now teaches at leading meditation centers including the Insight Meditation Society, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and the Forest Refuge. She serves as co-guiding teacher of Refuge of Belonging, an online dharma community, and supports practitioners through both long and short retreats as well as personal mentoring. Her teaching emphasizes relational practice, body-centered awareness, and connection to the natural world. Known for her warmth, humor, and willingness to share the messy realities of spiritual life, Devon brings both ancient wisdom and contemporary authenticity to her work. Along with her life partner Nico, she is co-author of *How Not to Be a Hot Mess: A Buddhist Survival Guide for Modern Life* and *This Messy, Gorgeous Love: A Buddhist Guide to Lasting Partnership*. After nearly twenty years together—including van life, teaching across the country, and navigating the beautiful chaos of partnership—Devon and Nico bring hard-won, lived experience to the work of lasting love. ------------------------------ *Nico Hase* Nico Hase is a Buddhist teacher, psychologist, and author who brings together rigorous meditation training with clinical expertise. After living in a Zen monastery for six years, he earned a PhD in counseling psychology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and now teaches meditation full time. He serves as guiding teacher of Refuge of Belonging, an online dharma community, and leads retreats both online and in person. He also works with students in one-on-one mentoring, drawing on both traditional Buddhist wisdom and contemporary psychology. His teaching is known for its clarity, depth, and humor. Having spent thousands of hours in meditation—including completing a traditional three-year retreat—Nico offers practices grounded in lived experience rather than theory. He specializes in helping practitioners work with difficult emotions, navigate relationships, and integrate spiritual practice with the messy realities of modern life. Along with his life partner Devon, he is co-author of *How Not to Be a Hot Mess: A Buddhist Survival Guide for Modern Life* and *This Messy, Gorgeous Love: A Buddhist Guide to Lasting Partnership*. Their nearly twenty years together—marked by monastic life, cross-country van travel, and plenty of ordinary conflicts—informs their teaching on intimacy, resilience, and lasting partnership.
