I was raised in San Diego, CA and have always had a passion for writing. In my 2016 published and released book The BLACK CARPENTER'S GUIDE I share with YOU the reader all of my experience and the tricks of the carpentry trade that I have learned over the past 20 plus years in construction as a commercial and residential carpenter. Also all of the frustrations and discrimination I have had to face as a BLACK MAN while seeking and remaining employed. This book serves as a blueprint and guide on what you must do today to succeed in construction as a minority or a person of color. "FROM A BLACK MAN'S PERSPECTIVE" The inner voice that yearned to express my voice and experiences was finally set free last year on June 21, 2016, with the release of my first published book titled The Black Carpenter's Guide. I began my construction career with Soltec Pacific at the Ruben H. Space Theater expansion project at Balboa Park in San Diego in 1996 as a carpenter apprentice. I completed four years of classroom instruction in carpentry on the following subjects power tool operation, plan reading, house framing, building layout, and concrete formwork. at the Associated General Contractors of America. Shortly after receiving my certificate by the state of California for completing my carpenter apprenticeship. I joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters local # 547. My first Union job was for J.R Concrete a large union concrete contractor who was building the police station in Chula Vista in the county of San Diego. I have had the opportunity to work as a journeyman carpenter on many projects since then both large and small during the past twenty years of being in the construction trade. Most of my working experience as a journeyman carpenter has been on large commercial projects. Union contractors that I have been employed for are Webcore Builders, Bomel, McCarthy Builders, Morley Construction, DPR and Disney Construction. I have been hired on as a carpenter foreman and lead carpenter several times. Some of the projects that I worked on is The Ruben H Space Theater expansion, College Grove Shopping Center, The Hard Rock Hotel, The Legend Hotel overlooking Petco Park in San Diego, and the Sorrento Valley Freeway project. I GUARANTEE This book will change your life and career if you follow the suggestions in this book. It was written for you and talks about YOU. If you're seeking more in yourself and your employment opportunities than this is book a must read for you. Please take the time and share a picture of you reading this book on social media and share what you enjoyed most about it with your friends. Together we can help level the playing field. By giving your support you can help to get the message out about the opportunities in construction to African Americans and minorities and help change lives.
