We know about two-dollar bills, but not two-cent pieces. Our hearts are touched by the kindness of the storekeeper and Anne’s eventual generosity as the family grapples with the sacrifices necessary to win the Civil War. While the story proceeds with examples of selflessness, small lessons are inserted to motivate the reader to exercise similar actions of faith and affirmation to trust in God. I highly recommend this sweet, honest book that will become a classic in children’s libraries. – Rebecca Farnbach, Author and Historian The Two-Cent Piece grabs the heart when a child’s faith adds depth to the face value of a coin, a gift, a stranger, and her family. – Mesu Andrews is the Christy award-winning author of Isaiah’s Daughter.
