Deborah J. Cohan's newest book is The Complete U: Over 100 Lessons for Success in and out of the College Classroom, A Professor Tells You Everything You Need to Know (Mango Publishing, 2025). She is the author of the critically acclaimed sociological memoir, Welcome to Wherever We Are: A Memoir of Family, Caregiving, and Redemption (Rutgers, 2020). A sought after speaker, Cohan is available for talks, readings, and workshops related to campus life, college readiness, intimacy and relationships, gender-based violence and trauma, grief and loss, body image, creativity, mentoring, and the writing process. Cohan is a professor of sociology at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, a contributing writer for Psychology Today, a frequent contributor to Inside Higher Ed, and her work has appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, Ms. Magazine, and Utne Reader. Cohan is regularly featured as an expert for national media on a range of social issues.
