Deborah Carr is the USA TODAY bestselling author of historical fiction. She was born and lives on the island of Jersey, where she sets most of her novels. The Channel Islands were the only place in the British Isles to be occupied by German forces during World War Two. The fear of witchcraft was rife in the 16th and 17th centuries in the Channel Islands, which were described as ‘proportionate to their size, the witch-hunting capital of Atlantic Europe’. These two dark times in the island's history inspired the setting for several of her books. Her stories celebrate courage, resilience and everyday acts of defiance from ordinary people forced to live in extraordinary times. Deborah enjoys chatting to her readers and keeps them up to date with weekly vlogs on her YouTube Channel @DeborahCarrAuthor
