Award-winning author Dean Sluyter (pronounced "slighter") has taught natural meditation since 1970, from elite prep schools to maximum security prisons. His six books include NATURAL MEDITATION and THE DHARMA BUM'S GUIDE TO WESTERN LITERATURE, both Nautilus Prize winners. A grateful student of sages in several traditions, Dean has completed numerous pilgrimages and retreats in Asia and the West. He is known for conveying authentic teachings in forms that are practical, accessible, and fun. Dean offers free meditation sessions via Zoom three times a week and leads workshops, talks, and retreats throughout the U.S. He has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, New York Magazine, O The Oprah Magazine, Coast to Coast AM, and NPR. Publishers Weekly calls his work "extremely well written and joyously entertaining." He also narrates audiobooks, plays ukulele, sings for dying people with the Threshold Choir, and happily rides his Vespa through the streets of Santa Monica.
