Emmy Award wining illustrator, Dawud Anyabwile was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa in 1965. Formerly known as David J. A. Sims, Dawud began his art career selling silk screened t-shirts to his peers in high school. At the age of 18 he establishing a city wide reputation by airbrushing t-shirts at THE GALLERY, Philadelphia's largest inner city mall during the 1980's. This path of entrepreneurism led Dawud to producing the Brotherman Comics series in May 1990 where it was released at the NYC Black Business Expo. Brotherman comics was instrumental in setting into motion and bringing awareness to a movement of Black owned comic book publishing companies. It also inspired a generation of artists of all nationalities and is still recognized as an important part of comic book culture although it had ceased publishing after a short 5 year run. Dawud has gained experience in the professional world of animation by working as a character/background and pre-production artist for major studios in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta where he presently resides. Shows ranging from Nickelodeons, "The Wild Thornberry's" and "The Rugrats" to Cartoon Networks current live action television pilot, "LEVEL UP" are just a sample of the many productions Dawud has had the opportunity to work on. Dawud's love of art is evident in his work ethic and his mission to produce high quality family entertainment products is an even stronger part of his vision.
