NEWEST RELEASE ON April 2025, "Scout Goes to School" Children's books have a special place in my heart. As a mother, I always looked for books that were entertaining but also taught a lesson. With the Scout and Her Friends series, I can combine many of my loves: dragons, books, and teaching. Illustrator Chad Thompson is a former illustrator who worked on Mulan and Lelo and Stitch. I am very fortunate to have him on my team. Soon we will start a third book, "Scout Goes on a Picnic." ANTHOLOGY: For something a little different, I have a story in the anthology "Coastal Crimes 2: Death Takes a Vacation." It's a completely different writing style for me. I wrote in first-person and present tense (I usually write third-person, past tense). If you're looking to discover new authors or if you don't think you have time for a full novel, I recommend trying out an anthology (starting with this one, of course). COMING SOON: The third in the wildly popular Eastover Treasures series, "A Killer Donation," has Aury and Scott back in Surry, Virginia. I researched the Virginia history on peanuts for the "backstory" chapters. This series allows me to branch out in my interests . . . but it still has a free quilt pattern in the back. :) ------ Dawn Brotherton is retired Air Force colonel, a wife, a mother of two, a Girl Scout leader, and the author of twenty-one books, Dawn started by writing "The Obsession," a mystery based on true events that happened during her days as a young lieutenant in the Air Force (now out on Audible). After that, her writers' group encouraged her to write a sequel in the Jackie Austin Mysteries, "Wind the Clock." She finished the third and final book for Jackie, "Truth Has No Agenda." Dawn is excited to turn to youth fiction with the Lady Tigers Series. With two teenage daughters, she relates well with the characters who come to life through the active dialogue. "Trish’s Team" is her first youth fiction story about a travel softball team and the lessons they learn together--on and off the field. The series is up to five books, one of which was written by Dawn's (then) 15-year-old daughter. You can learn more about the characters from the Lady Tigers by visiting her website. Her love of softball also comes through with the "Baseball/Softball Scoresheet" that is an 11x15" scorebook that not only holds pages for 30 games, but also explains the basic rules of softball to help make you a better scorekeeper. Larger boxes allows more room to explain the wacky situations that are bound to pop up. This book is also good for baseball. If you like contemporary steamy romance, check out Dawn's award-winning "Untimely Love." Jaime is struggling to determine if her marriage is worth fighting for. In addition to her success with mysteries and youth fiction, Dawn wrote a non-fiction book called "The Road to Publishing" with the goal of helping turn writers into published authors. It covers tips for self-publishing, traditional, and hybrid or independent publishing.
