David J. Thompson is a 61 year old Canadian and lives in the small town of Napanee in the province of Ontario. He grew up in the nearby farm country and this town is, to him, his "home town". David has one older brother and four sisters. His mother is very much alive at 89 though his father passed away over a decade ago. He also has 3 adult children from two marriages/divorces. Andy, Kate and Paul are very loving and supportive. He also has two granddaughters Chloe Mae, 5 and also a 9 old one by the name of Kaylee, both of whom are as jewels to him. He has not been successful in mainstream employment, partially due to long-term medical conditions and the fact, when he was younger, that he couldn't take negative feedback on the job without reacting rashly. He read a quote somewhere that basically said: "I couldn't see myself finding a real job, so I became a writer". He has decided he's at that point in his journey. At this point he does not have a website but can be reached by email at bakersdozensaga@gmail and has a YouTube channel by the same name. He's been writing since grade school (his first "novel" in Grade 6). Over the last 10 years, he has been involved with groups working on poetry and the like...this must have started his creative juices flowing because he finally began to work steadily on "Baker's Dozen: a Fantasy Novel" from January, 2007 to January of 2011. There were three editions because he a self-admitted "terrible proofreader". The novel had been rattling around in his head almost 30 years! He finished it, self-published it and has been marketing it since its completion. That was on lulu.com. He has received favourable reviews on that printing by anyone who read it although it was poorly-edited, which he admits was totally his fault. He then turned to a "professional" publishing company, which turned out to be a scam. He has since partnered with CreateSpace and self-published it there after properly editing and expanding "Baker's Dozen: a Fantasy Novel". The book is now available as a paperback and in Kindle form on amazon.com. He appreciates anyone who has taken the tome for to read this biography! Another note: "Baker's Dozen" which is noted in his bibliography is an earlier, uncorrected version. "Baker's Dozen: a Fantasy Novel" has extra content and was properly edited...plus it's cheaper. Also, he decided to finish a sequel, "Baker's Dozen 2: Nightshade Version 1.1" and published it, also. There are actually 5 books planned (he calls them "The Baker's Dozen Saga"). The remaining three will be entitled "The Dark Ages" (being written right now), "An Earth By Any Other Name", and "Normal Life". Due to problems with writer's block and plot, the 3rd novel has taken far longer to finish than he planned... but he is going to finish it: it's over 2/3 done. He has been gratified by the positive Amazon reviews he has received. Many of his sales have come from him supplying signed copies personally and has received favourable responses to his first two novels.
