Dr. David Hawkins is currently the CEO of The Higher Learning Company. He served in academic medicine and pharmacy for 41 years. His research and scholarly activities led to more than 100 publications in the pharmacy and medical literature and 200 scientific and professional presentations at national and international meetings. His professional expertise includes creating new academic programs, designing team-based learning curricula, and developing and assessing critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes. Dr. Hawkins has held several academic leadership positions including serving as a department chair, assistant dean in a medical school, associate dean in two pharmacy schools and the founding dean of two pharmacy colleges in California. While serving on the faculty of both medical schools and pharmacy schools he wrote books on the management of lipid disorders, a guide to clinical reasoning, and a team-based learning guide for faulty and students. He also wrote book chapters on gouty arthritis and hypertension. Since retiring, he has written four books in the Christian literature, entitled How to Live the Best Life, How to Travel Down the Narrow Road that Leads to Heaven, What You Can Learn from the Teachings of Jesus, and The Best Way to Learn and Teach God's Word.
