I am an orthopedic spine surgeon who performed complex spine surgery for 32 years. It was my observation that most spine surgery should never be performed. A significant part of my practice was helping patients out of a deep hole caused by multiple failed spine surgeries. I have learned that the central nervous system is the key player in the development of chronic pain. Unless it is addressed further, surgeries seldom are successful. This book is my own story out of chronic pain. The treatment paradigm evolved from my personal experience as well as learning from my patients. My goal for my patients is not just learning to live with pain or manage it but to break free from it. I have watched this occur in hundreds of patients.
