Here's the core idea running through every one of my books: each of us creates our work and then the experience of the work. It always happens that way. You don't have to be in your 'dream job' to bring it joy or meaning. I advocate taking 100% responsibility for the experience of our working lives. I suggest that people create their bosses and that people create their cultures, and organizations. It is not the other way round - even when it seems so 'obvious' that it is! I assert that when we can gain mastery over this inside-out practice, we can then use it not just to create successful businesses, but to create lives that we love, and communities we love to live in.
