David Faris is a contributing writer at The Week and an Associate Professor of Political Science at Roosevelt University. He is the author of, most recently, It's Time to Fight Dirty: How Democrats Can Build a Lasting Majority in American Politics. He has written op-eds for The Huffington Post, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, USA Today, The Daily Beast, the Christian Science Monitor, Informed Comment, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Philadelphia City Paper, Morning Call and more. He is also the author of Dissent and Revolution in a Digital Age: Social Media, Blogging and Activism in Egypt (2013) and co-editor of Social Media in Iran: Politics and Society After 2009. His academic work has appeared in Middle East Policy, International Journal of Middle East Politics, and Arab Media & Society. He lives in Chicago with his wife and son.
