Dave McVeigh was born and raised in Michigan, where Mackinac Island became his summer home until the age of 22. The island—with its rich history, natural beauty, and quirky charm—left an indelible mark on him. Each year, he returned, drawn to the familiar rhythm of horses, ferry boat horns, bicycle paths, and summer jobs. Mackinac never truly let go, and Dave always knew his creative journey wouldn’t be complete until he captured those experiences in writing. What began as a single novel has since grown into a beloved, ever-expanding series. After leaving Michigan, Dave spent 17 years in Los Angeles, fully immersed in the world of film, television, and digital content. He worked on high-profile projects, including the Oscars and Grammy telecasts, and contributed to “making of” TV specials for films such as Contact, Any Given Sunday, and The Perfect Storm. His roles spanned writing, editing, and directing, and he collaborated with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Those years solidified a lifelong belief: great storytelling transcends medium. Today, Dave lives in Cebu, Philippines, where he leads a creative team specializing in motion graphics and animation. His studio has partnered with global giants like Nike, Lexus, Disney Channel, and Paramount Pictures, as well as top-tier e-learning platforms. His creative philosophy is simple: communicate a vision with clarity, enjoy the process, and always celebrate the finished work. In addition to running DMC, Dave co-authors the Mackinac Island Novels series with his longtime friend and writing partner, Jim Bolone. Together, they’ve brought to life bestsellers like The Dockporter and Somewhere in Crime, combining humor, heart, and a deep love for the island that inspired it all. Writing these books has allowed Dave to revisit the place that shaped him and share its strange, enduring magic with readers around the world. A life of creativity, travel, and adventure has taught Dave one thing for certain: he’s exactly where he’s supposed to be, doing what he was meant to do.
