Darren Stafford is a British author and prison officer whose novellas explore the fragile space where love, memory and loss begin to blur.

Writing began as somewhere for his mind to go. It became a way of turning emotion, memory and imagination into stories.

Influenced by the dreamlike cinema of David Lynch, his fiction favours atmosphere over explanation, unfolding like half-remembered dreams where ordinary moments can become strange and unsettling. Music runs through his stories as memory made permanent.

He is the author of Aoife, A Song for Elara and READ 11:47. His next release, ONE SHORT: A Tale from HMP Stillwater, arrives 23 October 2026, followed by the Christmas novella The Crooked Star.

He lives in the North East of England.
