My name is Darren Chitwood, and I first developed my love of creative writing in High School, excelling in my English courses. It wasn’t until my early forties, however, that I felt God impress me to write my first novel, A Legacy of Hope. A recovering addict, I enjoy stories of redemption, so I crafted a narrative of a woman bitter towards her father for neglecting her. Years later, following his death, she reads his 12-step journal, experiencing his radical transformation, and is eventually able to forgive him. Likewise, my mission through storytelling is to spread hope to those who feel defeated and disconnected from God. No matter what we’ve experienced, God loves us and can use our brokenness to bless others. I wish to spread my message of hope and redemption to as wide an audience as possible. I have grown up in the church and have a strong pulse on the issues and frustrations that many Christians face. And I believe my stories present a realistic, thoughtful perspective that will bless others. I want someone who reads my books to believe that if the protagonists can learn from their mistakes and develop into better human beings, then they can too! It is all about legacy to me. I have completed five marathons and have traveled to four countries. I also intern for a dating ministry, called The Dating Discovery. I help with creating blogs and editing of the couple’s first book. Foremost on my mind, though, is developing ways to connect with those around me to help people overcome their struggles. I hope that my novels will be my lasting legacy for future generations.
