Clare Weze writes novels, short stories and microfiction. Her debut children’s book The Lightning Catcher was longlisted for the 2022 CILIP Carnegie Medal. The Storm Swimmer is her second book for children, and she is a co-author of Happy Here (Knights Of, 2021), an anthology featuring Black British talent. Her short fiction has been widely anthologised and she won a Northern Writers’ Award in 2016. Her work can also be found in Best Microfiction 2019, The Conglomerate, Commonword, Riptide, The Lascaux Review and elsewhere. Clare grew up between London and Yorkshire, and her background is in environmental and biological sciences. She is represented by D H H Literary Agency.
