Much of my writing explores the human-animal bond and the wildlife of New England. The Paulie the Piping Plover series was inspired by my childhood on the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard and memories of nesting plovers at Norton Point and other locations on the island. Since 2022, I’ve served as a judge for the annual Dog Writers Association of America competition. My recent flash fiction and other works have appeared in Akitsu Quarterly, Otherwise Engaged: Literature and Arts Journal, and Ruff Drafts. I’m a certified veterinary assistant with additional training in pet loss bereavement and end-of-life care through the Association of Veterinary Pastoral Education and the University of Vermont. I also serve on the board of the Wildlife Rehabilitators’ Association of Massachusetts. All proceeds from my books are donated to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
