Christine Judd grew up in western NSW, Australia, in the mining town of Cobar, aboriginal for ‘red or burnt earth’. She has fond memories of a childhood in a small remote outback community, embedded within a vast, dry landscape, where the earth was indeed a rich red ochre. On leaving school she pursued her strong creative drive by completing a bachelor’s degree in visual arts, studying printmaking, painting and drawing. After a decade living in India in a meditation centre, and travelling widely in Asia and Europe, Christine returned to Australia. She studied counselling and psychotherapy, went on to qualify as a social worker and recently completed her Master of Mental Health Practice. She has worked in Not-for-profit community services with people from diverse backgrounds, providing both individual and group therapy. She has experience working clinically in women’s health, trauma work, problem gambling and addiction, mental illness, domestic and family violence, and personality disorders. She has worked with people of all ages. She is now an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, and currently works in a national counselling service that supports people with mental health concerns as well as those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. She also works in private practice as a counsellor. Christine lives in inner-city Sydney with her cat and dog, plays violin, and enjoys long walks in nature. She is passionate about advocating for better emotional health for all, the power of creativity, and the richness of a life truly lived.
