About Chris Gootherts

Chris Gootherts is an author, lifelong jazz musician, entrepreneur, and former tech executive whose unconventional career spans global jazz stages, leading technology companies (including Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon), and executive leadership in the sports manufacturing industry.

With a deep curiosity about human potential and a passion for organizational culture, Chris has spent decades bridging the worlds of music, entrepreneurship, corporate leadership, and global HR strategy. Beyond his executive career at world-leading technology enterprises, he served as Vice President of Human Resources at the premier manufacturer in pickleball.

Throughout every career shift, jazz has served as his ultimate blueprint. The core principles of the bandstand—listening, collaboration, active adaptation, and real-time improvisation—have guided his approach to business growth, leadership, and navigating life’s unexpected turning points. Anchored by his faith, family, and passion for continuous learning, Chris views every challenge as an opportunity for reinvention.

In his debut memoir, Improvising Life: My Journey From Jazz Stages to Global HR & Recruiting at Three Global Tech Giants and Pickleball, Chris offers an inspiring, humorous, and candid look into a life lived off the written score. His story is a powerful reminder that purpose, success, and fulfillment are found when we embrace change, trust the journey, and learn to play through life’s wrong notes.
