Catherine J. Denial is the Bright Distinguished Professor of American History and the Director of the Bright Institute at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. She is a pedagogical consultant for individuals, units, and institutions of higher education across the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. Catherine is a historian of early nineteenth-century Ojibwe and Dakota country, with specialties in the history of women, gender, and sexuality, and Native history. She is active in promoting cultures of care for faculty and staff across higher education.
