Carole Bumpus began writing about food and travel when she stumbled upon the amazing stories of women and war in France. Her historical novel, A Cup of Redemption, was published in October 2014, followed by her unique companion cookbook, Recipes for Redemption, in August 2015. Carrying forward her search for traditional foods, family stories, and travel, she launched her Savoring the Olde Ways Series. The first book, Searching for Family and Traditions at the French Table was published in 2019, Book Two (of the same name) came out in 2020. The third book, A September to Remember: Searching for Culinary Pleasures at the Italian Table, was published in 2021 and the fourth book in her series, Adventures on Land & Sea: Searching for Culinary Pleasures in Provençe and along the Côte d’ Azur arrived in November 2024. Her keen desire to discover yet another family story keeps her on the road. But when not traveling, you can find Bumpus, a retired family therapist, living in Redwood Shores in the San Francisco Bay Area where she teaches writing in addition to enjoying sailing and whale watching. She has also had three short stories published in the California Writers Club - Fault Zone anthologies: Words from the Edge; Stepping up to the Edge and Over the Edge. And has received numerous writing awards including the most recent a 2025 Silver Medal award for Travel (IPPY), a 2025 Silver Medal also for Travel (IBPA), and a 2025 Gold Medal for an International Cookbook for the American Book Fest.
