Community policing was normal. Citizens were largely responsible for their own safety and the safety of their neighborhoods. When ruffians ruled and murder was tolerated, the Montana Vigilantes became the community police. They have fascinated me since I stood in the Hangman’s Building in Virginia City, Montana, and heard the ropes creak. Delayed by my recovery from a concussion, A Time of Trial, the fifth novel in the Vigilante Series is on schedule for publication during Thanksgiving weekend 2023 in the United States. The story: Lawyer and Vigilante, Dan Stark’s legal battle to save his family’s gold mine becomes a war to save his family.
