Calton (Cal) Kennedy is a South African author, broadcaster, entrepreneur and event producer whose career has taken him through the military, commercial radio, television, audio, video production and major corporate special events with more than a few adventures along the way. He has also started businesses ranging from a commercial radio station, a ten-camera outside-broadcast television unit, to high-end broadcast production facilities.
Born in 1960, Cal spent almost fifty years living with clinical depression and dyspraxia without knowing either condition had a name. His first major mental breakdown at forty-nine finally forced him to confront what had been hiding in plain sight for most of his life.
I’m the Patient, Not the Shrink! is his brutally honest — and occasionally inappropriate — attempt to explain what life looks like from the other side of the consulting-room desk.
He is also the author of newly released Compelled to Kill, a fictional novel exploring the uncomfortable question of what happens when a soldier is ordered to do something he knows is morally wrong.
Cal lives by a fairly simple philosophy: if you can't laugh at yourself occasionally, depression wins.
