Byrd was born in Lumberton, NC in 1961 and after living in San Francisco, Atlanta and Chapel Hill she moved back to Lumberton in 2014. She taught elementary school and was director of education at 2 software companies. The Mystery of the Green Cat is her third book. It focuses on rescuing kittens and cats - a subject dear to her heart. She has been an advocate for TNR for feral cats for many years. TNR stands for Trap/Neuter/Release. Currently she has four indoor cats, a dog (who thinks he is a cat) and she cares for several feral cats. Her first two books are picture books and her third book is a chapter book. Byrd was once a pretty good tennis player but recently has become an avid pickleball player and encourages everyone to give it a try.
