Brian Robertson was brought up and schooled in a small village called Rothienorman north of the city of Aberdeen, Scotland. The family moved there to escape the effects of WW 2 in the early 1940s. Brian became a farmer but had to leave the farm to serve his compulsory two years in the Gordon Highlanders in Cyprus. After leaving the army he returned to education, gaining a science degree, and becoming a teacher. He found his vocation in writing materials for schools, working in one of the very first Curriculum Development Centres in Dunbartonshire, Scotland, and has since used these skills in Papua New Guinea, Australia, Southern Africa and the Solomon Islands. He started writing textbooks for South Pacific schools when he retired in 1998. His first non textbook was—"Digger's Story, Surviving the Japanese POW camps was just the beginning". Brian refers to this as his first real book. His second real book "Riotous Retirement" is now available in hard copy and will soon be available on Amazon. Just type riotous retirement into your search engine. It is a humorous look at life in a retirement village. He is working on a sequel to "Riotous Retirement" and on his memoir about his time in the Gordon Highlanders regiment in Cyprus in the mid 1950s. He hopes to be around for sometime to write a few more books.
