Brandon Broll was born in South Africa, before moving to London in 1990 during the apartheid era. A trained wildlife biologist and poet, he became an anti-apartheid refugee in London delivering softdrinks and furniture, before using his scientific training as a medical journalist, science writer, reader at the British Library, and certified electrician. The nickname 'Doctor Electric' arose working as an electrician after gaining a doctorate in history. In 1994, his biography appeared in the "International Who’s Who in Poetry", and in 2006 his bestselling science book "Microcosmos" garnered international praise. In 2020, Riols Quarter began to publish his large output of yet unpublished fiction and non-fiction. He is married with two sons.
