Born in 1968 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, I've experienced quite a bit in my life. But it took some time before I found my path as a writer. After finishing school, I first trained as a decorator and bedding manufacturer, later followed by running my own company in the field of web design. From the outside, becoming an author might not seem like the most obvious step—and it didn’t feel that way to me either at first. But eventually, life seemed to steer me away from my company. After some careful consideration, I handed it over to a good friend in 2016 and set out to explore what might come next. Turning Point – From Web Design to Author It turned out to be a stroke of luck that, in the previous year—2015—I had started collecting ideas for a first novel. And a lot has happened since then! I’ve now published three novels, each in two languages, along with two short stories. What drives me is not just creativity, but also my personal philosophy. For example, I like positive endings in stories and have a deep aversion to violence. That’s reflected in my novels: they are written to be as non-violent as possible—without sacrificing suspense. Many readers appreciate that, as do I, as the author behind the stories. Of course, there are also people who prefer more violent narratives, and that’s something you can see reflected in certain reviews. What If? Benjamin Raunegger and Time Travel Anyone who follows my novels will quickly notice that time travel is a recurring theme throughout my work. Both of my published novels revolve around it, and the continuation of the Peter Wheller series will likewise deal with time travel. It’s not just an intriguing “what if” scenario for readers—it also allows me, as a writer, to craft positive endings that still make sense within the world of the story, even if at first glance such an outcome might not seem realistic.
